What I'm reading

Last week I read FIRST LADY, by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Fairly fun... not her best book, but enjoyable. I also read WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE, by Stephanie Bond. Although her books are marked "Romantic suspense" on the spine, I find them to be more like suspenseful chick lit. But I just overlook the lack of romance and enjoy them anyway. And I finally finished up THE REAL DEAL by Lucy Monroe. It took me a while to slog through it, and I really couldn't see why it was a DIK for LLB. Then again, I can't imagine why it was voted "Worst Book" in the AAR Reader poll, either. It seemed fairly average to me. And although it is a Brava, it's definitely not erotic romance.

Today I followed up on my good books of last week by buying AIN'T SHE SWEET? by SEP and PARTY CRASHERS by Stephanie Bond. I also got the second Stephanie Plum book from the library-- I resisted reading those darned books for years because I'm not a big mystery reader, but I finally read the first one a week or two ago, and it was pretty enjoyable. So I imagine I'll be going through the whole series in the next month or so!

  1. I have them in my TBR pile. I don't know why, but I've been resisting them too. Probably because of the hype and not the books.

  2. I've got First Lady in my TBR pile, but I'm afraid to read it. I think it's because the blurb doesn't thrill me at all. However, it's a SEP book, which means I'll love it, so I should just break down and read it! LOL

  3. For some reason I kept reading bad reviews of FIRST LADY, so I hesitated to read it, but once I read it I really liked it. SEP's writing is always fast and fun. I'm already about halfway through AIN'T SHE SWEET? and enjoying it a great deal, too, although it's rather heartwrenching in spots!

  4. I'm a huge Stephanie Plum fan...I think I just like reading about someone who's life is more messed up than my own. lol. As for SEP, I have all of her books too, and FANCY PANTS, the one that got me hooked and can still make me cry, is just being re-released. ALthough I would have to say my fave of hers is still IT HAD TO BE YOU. *sigh* Dan Calebow is a hero to die for.
