Random thoughts on e-publishing

I just finished BAD BOYS OVER EASY and enjoyed it. I noted with interest that two of the three authors involved in the anthology got their start in e-publishing.

Which leads to a trend I've noticed... authors writing for small presses even after they've sold to New York publishers. Examples include Sylvia Day, MaryJanice Davidson, and Jenna Peterson. I know of a couple others but won't mention names, as they're using pen names and I'm not sure they want to be outted:-). This is a positive development, as it helps chip away at the idea that writers e-publish because they can't get published by New York, or that the writing quality of e-published books is necessarily inferior. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more crossover in the future.

I noticed yesterday that NEVER LOVE A STRANGER is listed on Fictionwise as "science fiction." Erp. Most people looking through NCP's list of books aren't looking for science fiction. It really should have been listed as romance. I hope that's not going to adversely impact the sales.
