Brother, can you spare an agent?

I'm been studying my 2005 Guide to Literary Agents and surfing the Net this morning, looking at various agent websites. Since I don't have a full novel right now, I've got nothing to send out to agents, but on the (wildly unlikely) chance that I sell a novella to a NY pub any time soon, I need to have a list prepared of agents I'd approach to represent me. My first choice would probably be the Deidre Knight Agency, because their blog's helpfulness and professionalism has impressed me, (and because I like their positive attitude toward e-publishing), but who knows if they'd want me? So I'd be grateful for your help in making a list. If you're represented by an agent you love, I'd love to hear about them!

  1. The New Jersey Romance Writers conference in October will have several agents available for author appointments. Check out their conference page.

    Good luck!

  2. I don't know if you have Writer's House on your list, but they've been terrific for me. :)

  3. Thanks, ladies. PBW, I've thought about Writers House, since I also write children's fiction, and they're one of the very few agents to handle that AND romance. But they are a very big agency... I'm a little afraid of getting lost amidst their illustrious client list.
