Harry Potter

I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last night, and my daughter finished it up this morning. I'm afraid I have to agree with Shannon... I want Rowling to go back to writing books that don't make me feel like flinging myself out the nearest window when I finish. I can take a certain amount of darkness, but this book was utterly and totally depressing.

My daughter's comment? (Bear in mind this is a child who has been obsessed with all things HP for years.) "I didn't like it much."

  1. Wasn't it nice when we could close a HP book with a happy and satisfied sigh? I want that back!

And people wonder why Harry Potter fanfic is so popular...

  2. Yes, but I think my dissatisfaction was more than that. I've been thinking about it, and it just seemed to me that the plot of this one was lacking. No real plot arc, just a lot of meandering. No real action. Some odd character actions. Overall, definitely the weakest of the series, IMHO.

  3. I totally agree. The romance were not developed well, the book rambled, some of the characters acted out of character, etc.
