Mrs. Giggles

Mrs. Giggles just reviewed Kindred: The Shadows of Night. Not a good review at all, I'm afraid. "Predictable and unexciting" were two of the kinder things she had to say about it. Do I mind? Nah. I've been writing long enough to know that some readers are going to love my books, and some are going to hate them, and some are going to fall somewhere in the middle. I'm grateful Mrs. G took the time to read it, and I have to admit I laughed while reading her review, because she's a funny gal, in a wicked kind of way. I just hope she likes my next book a little better *wry grin*.

  1. You know, it has never crossed my mind to send her a book to review. Maybe I should just for giggles!

  2. Oh boy, Ellen, just reading the woman’s name sends shivers down my spine. LOL She reviewed three of my Wordbeams books several years ago (about 5 years I think) and found little value in any of them.

At the time she wasn’t as well known (she was just beginning to make a name for herself) and I didn’t realize what I was in for. When I read her first review I almost keeled over in a dead faint. :-D I don’t remember the scores she gave me, but I think they ran between 55 and 75 or something in that vicinity.

Reading your post brought back fond…er, make that “not-so-fond” memories. I’ll have to see where in the heck I hid those reviews of hers and read them again. I think I’d appreciate them much more today. …Maybe. ;-)

  3. I think I'm getting to that point, slow but sure. Good way to look at things. I haven't sent her a book yet. One of these days.
