Sick kid

Kid #1 informed me that she felt ill this morning. She often says she's sick when she's not all that ill (she's a bit of a drama queen), so I didn't hesitate to send her off to school. And the poor kid then promptly threw up all over the bus. I drove over to school to get her, and she threw up all the way home (in a bag). She was really and tumultuously ill. I feel like the worst mom imaginable for making her go to school. Bad mommy! Bad mommy! *hits self in forehead*

  1. I can top you in the bad mom department...

When my son was six, he complained of a tummy ache. He always got them, so I sent him to school, pretty much with a "quit whining."

He came home still not feeling good. On and off through the evening, still not feeling good. Finally, late that night, we had to rush him to the emergency room. Turns out he had appendicitis and they barely got it out in time.

Yeah, I feel like a heel...

  2. On some TV show last week, a single pregnant woman confided to another that she was terrified of being a bad mother. "What if I screw up?"
The friend said, "Everyone screws up parenthood. The wierd thing would be if you didn't screw up. So let's hope you screw up!"
    Oddly profound...

  3. Been there. Done that. :^)

Daughter #3 was real good at fooling the school nurse. But there were a few times when she wasn't faking it.

    Big oops.
