A debut author

I am thrilled because I finally got hold of THE DAMSEL IN THIS DRESS, by Marianne Stillings. This is a humorous contemporary suspense romance, and Marianne's debut. I actually read an early form of it last year-- Marianne was kind enough to let me read it when I submitted ALL I EVER WANTED to Avon so that I could see the kind of manuscript Avon was buying. But my understanding is that it's been heavily revised, especially in the second half. I can't wait to read this book! I love Marianne's sense of humor... she reminds me of my favorite contemporary authors, Rachel Gibson and Susan Andersen. And anyway, who could possibly pass up an author whose books are titled with awful puns like THE DAMSEL IN THIS DRESS and CLAIRE AND PRESENT DANGER??

  1. OOh! I won an ARC of that book, and loved it! I don't usually read contemporaries, but I always like winning things, and I like supporting new authors.

But this book was deliciious--Soldier!!--and hilarious, and the suspense plot was wrapped up really nicely. I can't wait until the next book!
