And again...

The schools are out today. (I know those of you from up north are rolling on the floor laughing that we let the schools out for an inch of snow, but the back roads did get coated pretty thoroughly with ice. Ice and southern drivers don't mix well!) We have two to three more inches coming in tonight, and more this weekend. Last night I had some pretty awful contractions, and I was thoroughly freaking out, since my mother-in-law is not going to drive up here if it's snowing (and I don't blame her; I don't drive in the snow either). Which means I'd have to have this baby all by myself. Someone has to watch my little monsters while I'm in the hospital, and if my MIL isn't available, DH has to babysit. Yeah, it's my fourth baby, I'm an old pro, and I can do it without DH, but I'd rather not. So let's keep our fingers crossed that the little guy or gal decides to wait till at least next week, shall we?

I did pick out the rereads I plan to take with me to the hospital-- I figure I'll need some lightweight stuff to keep my mind off things, particularly if I find myself delivering without DH. I picked out HOT AND BOTHERED, by Susan Andersen, and SHE WENT ALL THE WAY, by Meggin Cabot. I'm really hopeful I can find Rachel Gibson's new book, THE TROUBLE WITH VALENTINE'S DAY, before the baby comes (and somehow restrain myself from reading it till I get to the hospital), but if not, the other books will suffice!

On another topic, I got a really lovely fan letter yesterday from a reader who's read ALL my books and liked them, even though some of them are genres she isn't too fond of, generally speaking. She even ordered a used copy of The Light in the Darkness. It's always nice to hear from people who enjoy your writing... makes it all worthwhile!

  1. And it's a testament to what a great writer you are that she read genre's she wouldn't normally...just because YOU were the author!
