Isn't today Saturday?

I'm pretty sure it is. And yet my eyes popped open at 6:30 as my brain suddenly woke me up, demanding that I go revise Christmas Carol, RIGHT NOW. Obediently (because I don't want to make my brain mad), I grabbed the laptop and went downstairs to write, so as not to wake up DH. When I was finished, the novella read a lot better, so I booted up the other computer and sent it off to a writer friend who wanted to read it, telling her it was pretty much done.

Or maybe not, because when I took a shower, I suddenly began thinking about the story again, and I realized there were still some serious holes to be plugged. (I really need a waterproof laptop in my shower!) I got out of the shower, dried off, threw on some clothes, and headed for the computer again. Fifteen minutes later, the story was much better, and I sent my writer friend (who probably now thinks I'm a complete lunatic) a revised copy. The brain doesn't always give me weekends off. Sometimes it makes me work pretty hard.

After that, I went out to the library for a while. When I came back, I was pleased to get a fan mail from someone who'd read The Light in the Darkness a while back, and recently reread it. She told me she enjoyed it very much and wondered why my second book had never been released. So I wrote her, telling her about my current work (doubtless telling her a lot more than she really wanted to know!), and giving her my website address. Maybe if I'm lucky she'll want to read something else by me. If nothing else, it's very nice to still have people remember me favorably for a book that was published seven years ago!

  1. It's a wonderful Christmas story! And H-O-T. Everybody should line up to get theirs instead of wooly socks and sweaters, I promise you'll be warmer. ; ) - Ellen's Writer Friend (who obviously needs a blogger ID)
