Of editing and ultrasounds

I worked on Unicorn Quest most of yesterday morning and corrected things like misplaced commas, misspellings, and a few awkward phrasings and overly contemporary-sounding dialogue. I then asked DH to read it. He's gone through about three-quarters of it, and he caught some things like too-long paragraphs and abrupt viewpoint shifts. (I am honestly amazed he noticed the viewpoint shifts-- that sort of thing goes right over the head of many readers. He's really getting to be a terrific cp! But then again, I'm really anal about viewpoint shifts, so he's learned to watch for them. Not every writer worries as hard about them as I do.) I'll see what I can do about his comments today if I get the chance.

However, I may not get too much work done today because I have an ultrasound. I've never had an ultrasound so late in my pregnancy, but this doctor is highly paranoid about big babies (an effect of gestational diabetes can be to produce a big baby, and mine have always been large anyway-- 8-1/2, 9, and 9-1/2 pounds, respectively). So she wants to make sure baby isn't growing too large. I'll post about the results of my ultrasound later this afternoon, when I get back, because I know some of you are interested in my pregnancy:-).

  1. Yes, keep me posted. :D

My daughter was a big one too, over 9 pounds. I couldn't believe it. She came out and looked like she was already a few months old.
