Fence straddlers

I was interested by Sylvia's post about "straddling the fence" over at RTB today. I was also intrigued to follow a link back to Allyson James' blog and see that she just sold to Berkley. I started making a list in my head of writers who will be writing, are writing, or have written both for e-pubs and NY pubs, and I came up with quite a list:

Sasha White
Rosemary Laurey
C.J. Barry
MaryJanice Davidson
Cheyenne McCray
Linnea Sinclair
Rowena Cherry
Jen Nicholas
Jordan Summers
Jaid Black
Angela Knight
Allyson James
Joy Nash
Sylvia Day
Bonnie Vanak

That's fifteen, and that's just off the top of my head. Doubtless there are quite a few others. Wow... that's a lot of authors writing for both. As I said in my comment on RTB, I think this will become so common in the next few years that it won't even be worthy of note, and that so-called "stigma" will disappear.

  1. Lora Leigh, Shiloh Walker, Deanna Lee...

I also know a dozen or so ebook authors with stuff on their agent's desk who are close to being NY authors too.

  2. Thanks for the additions, Jaynie! I can't believe I forgot Lora and Shiloh. I must confess I'm not familiar with Deanna Lee... I'll go look her up now.

  3. There is definitely a trend that agents and editors are paying attntion to, even if RWA isn't.

Deanna Lee is a LSb author, and I think Venus Press as well, not sure.

Off to read the RTB post now. :)

  4. You forgot to list Ellen Fisher among the print and epubbed. ; )

  5. *G* I'm not sure I really count, since my Bantam book is out of print. I know of other e-pubbed authors who were previously published by NY, too, like Jane Toombs and Trudy Thompson. But I think our NY books are all out of print now.
